I don’t have a magic wand to make the time go slower or you going through your daily tasks and activities faster, but I don’t think we even have to. So here I’m going to give you a few tips to find more time for fitness.
7 Tips To Have MORE TIME FOR FITNESS
In no particular order
1. Do less.
Seriously. Rome was not built in a day and you stressing out is not an answer. It’s not that we lack time. It’s that we plan on doing too much. Usually the frustration doesn’t come that we don’t have enough time. Usually frustration comes because we didn’t accomplish what we planned to do. My solution and suggestion to you is this:Do Less.
Set for yourself only 3 goals – one fitness, one work and one personal project (hobby or house work).
Why it works? Well firstly you become really focused. Secondly, you will know when to say NO. Thirdly, everything that you will do on top of your three goals will be a bonus that you can congratulate yourself on instead of beating yourself up.
2. Focus on one task at a time.
The wise man (my dad actually) likes to say – whatever is your time estimation on that task, multiply it by Pi number (~3.14) cause that’s probably how long it will take to finish it.
It gets even worse if you attempt multitasking, checking Gmail, facebook, twitter, Instagram, etc. Check your email once or twice a day. Give yourself a specific time for responding email, facebook messages and reading my blog post.
3. Eliminate unnecessary activity.
Utilize traffic for listening to podcasts, having a handsfree phone call conversation with a person of choice, learn a language or meditate (yes it is possible to breath deeply and be aware of your surroundings when stuck in traffic).
Drop TV watching. Seriously all those commercials, aren’t you sick of it. Yes, I know you are not doing it.
4. Do more of what you love.
You will never regret time that you spent doing what you love. Immerse yourself in cooking, running, drawing, playing with kids, making love. Do more of it. You will be more confident, happier about your life, and most likely more productive in a other spheres. Do not feel guilty about doing more of what you love.
5. Give yourself deadline.
We waste more time procrastinating on the tasks we don’t wanna do than it actually takes to do it. Stop it. Give yourself 15 – 30 minute deadlines and attack those unwanted tasks. You will see at what speed you will be flying through them. If you give yourself all day to clean the house, well guess what it will take a day. But if you give yourself 45 minutes to clean the house before guests arrive? Yes, it will be clean in 45 minutes.
6. Ask for help and delegate.
Tough one, but you said you want to spend more time doing what you love, right? Well consider that the thing you don’t wanna do others would love to do. If you don’t like cooking, well there are companies who cook fresh food for you every week and deliver it to you, all you need to is eat (easy, a chunk of time saved). If you don’t like cleaning, I know it seem ridiculous to waste you money on it, but guess what maybe the time you spend polishing your dining table you could be investing in learning new skill. Consider it. You do not need to do it all yourself, there’s lots of help around.
It always comes down to this. What is important to you today? tomorrow? in 3 months? 5 years? Think about it and take actions to ensure that you focus your attention on the most important things first. The rest – do what you love and delegate the rest.
